ABU AL-ISLAM-AZ-Zahrawi KASSIM (ALBUCASIS)

       Almost a thousand years ago when Spain (Andalusia) is part of the Islamic empire, near the main town in Cordoba lived among the greatest, but now almost forgotten surgical pioneer. He is Al-Zahrawi, but once in European languages his name written in several different calls like Abulcases, Albucasis, Bulcasis, Bulcasim, Bulcari, Alzahawi, Ezzahrawi, Zahravius, Alcarani, Alsarani, Alcaravi, Alcaravius, Alsahrawi and others . Al Zahrawi believed to be born in a town of El-Zahra six miles north west of Cordoba in the year 936 to 940. This is where he lived, studied, taught and practiced medicine and surgery so that when he died in 1013, two years after the destruction of El-Zahra. Due to the destruction of El-Zahra, too little is known about Al-Zahrawi notoriety. He called for the first time by the Andalusian scholar Abu Muhammad bin Hazm (993-1064) that has put the Al-Zahrawi of the great physicists and surgeons in Spain. Biography of Al-Zahrawi first seen in the book of al-Humaydi Jadhwat al-Muqtabis (On Andalusian Savants) completed six decades after his death. It is clear from the history of al-Zahrawi life and his essays, which he piles all his life and wisdom to the advancement of medicine and surgery in special. Al-Zahrawi has written a medical encyclopedia in 30 volumes, including the surgical, medical, orthopedics, ophthalmology pharmacology, nutrition and others.
